(From Left to Right: Emily Taber-Moore, Claire Lam, Dana Wang, Jessica Liu, Edward Zheng, Katie Barton) Thought process: [Emily] As a young professional living with a male roommate, I had to take gender neutrality into consideration, but also add some edge (I am a designer after all). No man caves or Barbie houses here! My favorite color is grey, so this was a somewhat easy task to compromise on. With an open Dining and Living Room floor plan, everything had to flow cohesively. My roommate and I are both transplants to the West Coast and like to travel, so my goal was to create a 'Cali vibe with a global influence' without breaking the bank. SHOP THE LOOKIt's always good to get our hands dirty for a good cause! We enjoyed volunteering our time and applying our design knowledge at Habitat for Humanity's ReStore in Mission Valley this past month. Thanks for having us Habitat for Humanity San Diego, we hope to be back soon! A solid foundation of natural stone walls and floors is relaxed by decorative components and strategically placed soft textures. Clean lines, contemporary finishes and a warm, neutral color palette define this residential composition. View the full project here. SHOP THE LOOK
Dutch fashion designer, Iris van Herpen is truly one of a kind. Inspired by architecture and nature, van Herpen bridges the gap between disciplines with a no-boundary approach for her couture fashion pieces. Some may question this designer’s avant-garde method, but we are simply in awe of this wearable art collection. As Coco Chanel once said, ‘In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.‘
Here is how we translate van Herpen’s visions in our designer minds: It’s the question every handy homeowner getting ready to embark on a renovation asks themselves: How much can I actually do myself? If you’re willing to get your hands dirty, it may be more than you think. Curbed spoke with experts including DIY home renovators, contractors, and architects to determine the realistic DIY projects in your house, and what is better left to the professionals.
Both the Shanghai and La Jolla office locations are currently working together to formulate and produce an architectural, minimalist design with natural elements for a private residence in Shenzhen, China. These renderings depict an open plan with ample natural light, while partitions throughout the home define individual spaces. Natural stone and wood materials add warmth to the streamlined, contemporary design.
Andesign is very excited and proud to announce their latest feature in Modern Luxury's May Issue of 'Women To Watch'! Our fearless leader and senior designer are breaking international grounds in San Diego, CA.
